Tavistock Town Council Works Department are currently undertaking much needed repairs to the Town’s iconic Bandstand which is located within the Meadows.
The bandstand which dates back to 1923, was built as part of a rejuvenation and renovation project of the open park land by the Council which included restoration of the then derelict canal as well as a fountain and children’s paddling pool.
Unfortunately, due to regular vandalism over several years in the Meadows the Bandstand has fallen into a state of disrepair and as such now requires extensive restoration which includes fully replacing the timber ceiling, re slating the roof, masonry repairs and general redecoration to bring this historic landmark back to its former glory.
To enhance it further and encourage public use of the asset, the Town Council are installing lighting as well as re surfacing the access path.
Over the next few weeks we will keep you posted on the progress of this project.
