Members of the Tavistock Town Council Works Department are busy keeping our parks and open spaces, including The Meadows, Whitchurch Down and the smaller local parks, neat and tidy to provide pleasant havens for you to exercise in, and to have them ready for the normal use we all used to enjoy prior to lockdown, recognising that all members of the public need to respect the self-distancing guidance and ensure that their children do as well.
Please note though that In accordance with Government guidance the play areas are required to remain closed until further notice, with signage clearly advising people to not use the play equipment. Parents and guardians are asked to ensure, in the interests of public health, that their children abide by this.
Police Inspector Mark Sloman has added, "it is really disappointing that a small number of parents have failed to follow safe practice and put their children, and other people, at risk by ignoring the signage not to use play equipment’ Our officers will continue to patrol the meadows and other play parks around the town in an effort to ensure the equipment is not used. We all hope that in the near future these facilities, including the towns skate park, will be opened up again for everyone to enjoy but in the meantime can I ask that people use their common sense and stay off the equipment. We all need to remember that the restrictions are still in place."
