Memorial Stability Testing Notice

Tavistock Town Council has a legal requirement to ensure all headstones and memorials are deemed safe and secure.

The Council has a programme of work in place over the next 12 months for trained staff to test the stability of each memorial. Memorials deemed unstable will be made safe, this could include being laid down, or stake and banded as a temporary support.

The Council will notify, where possible, the owners of unstable memorials to arrange necessary repairs, as it is the responsibility of the owner to make sure that the memorial is kept in a safe condition.

This action is in the interests of your health and safety.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Town Council if you have any questions about the process.
